On the 2nd anniversary of blogging   12 comments

“Should I write blog posts that increase my traffic or that help change the way (a few) people think?” – Seth Godin

The thing about being a phlegmatic type is that one literally does go with the flow. Something interesting about astrology occurs to me, and I think, “oh, that would make a good blog post,” and then I’m on a roll and words come like water.

But have you ever tried to push water? You can guide it, build channels for it, remove stones from the riverbed; but unless it’s frozen solid, it’s going to go where it’s compelled, not where it’s forced.

I keep looking at blog rank sites. I just figured out that there are people who subscribe to this blog’s feed on Google Reader (thank you! who knew?). Sometimes seeing these numbers – especially seeing very successful bloggers’ numbers – leads me to the wrong conclusion. “I should write about celebrities, I should get more readers.” “I should post more often.” “I should force myself to think of things to blog about.”

I’m here to reassure myself that that’s not the point.  I blog for me, and for those who think this traditional, no-sun-sign approach is interesting. I just want you, and me, to know what astrology can really do.

For those who read, who lurk, who comment, who retweet or refer or link or just nod and say to themselves, “huh, that makes sense…”

THANK YOU so much for reading.

  1. I love your blog. Thank you for sharing!

  2. I have been reading your blog for about a year and a half, and am so thrilled that you seem to be back at it. I check this site all the time hoping for a new post. Your writing is very clear and applicable – for me, someone who has been studying Frawley and Lilly as best I can over the last couple of years.

Thanks so much for all of your efforts!

PS – Love the Seth Godin quote – another of my favorite bloggers.

  3. I love google reader – I hadn’t realized how many great blogs there are until I started following links from one blog to the next. Thank you for yours!

  4. Thanks for blogging, and happy Blogiversary! I’ve found your posts enlightening and your readings/interpretations incredibly helpful. Keep flowing!

  5. Quality doesn’t always come with quantity.
Your blog has a value we appreciate, so keep it alive.
    Happy blogversary Christine! :)

  6. Bright Blessings!

I just discovered your blog today, and I have already bookmarked it :) I love your water analogy as it applies to writing a blog post. I have the same experience when I write. I have an idea, I know what I want it to say/do/go, and voila! It is entirely different when I am finished, and sit back and say “Where did that come from, and where did my other idea go?”

“I should write about celebrities, I should get more readers.” “I should post more often.” “I should force myself to think of things to blog about.”

I ask myself the same questions! Invariably I arrive at the same answer, do what inspires you when it inspires you. Nothing more, nothing less.
